In comparison, phones with a ceramic-based battery use just about 2,000 days of battery time per year – and they’re still not cheap.
In fact, a typical smartphone costs around $800 in the US.
But while it may seem expensive, the battery’s not all bad.
In the long term, batteries can save you money, especially when you factor in the cost of replacing the batteries with new ones.
The biggest benefit to a battery, however, is its ability to last.
A lithium-based cell, which is the same chemistry as your smartphone battery, will last up to a few years.
A ceramic- based cell, however – which is made of a softer material – can last for a longer time.
That’s because ceramic batteries can be charged by heating them up, which reduces the amount of heat that gets trapped inside the cell.
In addition, batteries don’t need to be charged all the time.
They only need to last a short time before needing to be replaced.
That means that a smartphone with a regular battery can last longer, and be more environmentally friendly.
